This is a dual-post. As you know we moved last Sunday, so on Saturday morning (our last real day at our old condo) we took some time out from packing to go to the pool for a bit. I wanted to take a few pictures of Karis there, since 1) I just like documenting her life; 2) we have spent a LOT of time at this pool and have absolutely loved it; and 3) it happened to be a rare occasion that John got to go with us, so I actually had the chance to hold a camera and still know my Baby Girl was safe in the water. All of that is the first reason for today's post....
The second reason is that I just wanted to talk for a minute about my sweet girl and how proud I am of her. Including this most recent move, Karis has now lived in 5 different 'homes' in the past 10 months. That's a LOT for a little girl. Let's be honest, it's a lot for anyone. It's hard enough for John and I as adults...just the simple everyday things. For instance, I have the hardest time remembering where the trash can is in the kitchen. It's in a different spot in every kitchen that we have. Or, when I'm rinsing dishes to go in the dishwasher I will start to head to the right to put them in the dishwasher, but wait, this dishwasher is actually on the left side of the sink.
Throughout our whole moving day on Sunday she was SO GOOD! I can't even express how good she was, and that honestly makes things so much easier. Every move has not gone this smoothly. She often times gets very confused and doesn't understand what's going on, so she gets scared and just wants Mama to hold her.
She was so content all day during this past move, it was awesome. I am sure that we will still have bumpy moves in the future. But, I am just so proud of her. She is so resilient and adapts so well to change. This hasn't always been the case in her life, but it certainly is now.
I truly don't think all babies her age adapt as easily as she has managed to, and I am so thankful that she does.
Wherever we are living we do try to maintain the same routine and keep things as similar as possible for her. Well, let's be honest, it's easier for us that way too. When life is constantly changing, any little things that you can keep constant are helpful.
My little girl is a trooper and I just wanted to share that with you. Or at least document it for myself in the future, via this blog. I talk about how fabulous she is quite a bit, but this is something different. This is a genuine appreciation for her character.
But, yes, she is pretty stankin' fabulous...and beyond cute!
So, back to the pool for a minute. We are gonna miss that old pool. It was never crowded and she loved going there. That condo, while not our dream home, was our home for 3 months...so it's special to us, as are all the places we live. Even if we don't just love them to death, they are the homes that we live in for a time...and we grow a great appreciation for them.
This was our little cut-through from our steps to go out towards the pool. We always told Karis it was our secret passageway and she loved to go this way.
There you have it...a bit of bragging, and some pool pics of my most precious Baby Girl.
