It's a Shirr Thing

27 July 2013

I've got a little dress to share with you today. To me, it's the epitome of a summer dress. Shirring - check. Tie straps - check. Chambray fabric - check. All that and rick-rack to boot. It's light, breezy and comfortable.
I didn't use any kind of pattern for this dress...I just went for it.
This is the same chambray that I have used for another outfit for Karis, as seen here.
I started by cutting a couple pieces of fabric and shirring them. (Of course, this was after I stitched them together and probably had already done my hem.)
Oh. My. Word. Can you even stand how cute she is?!?
After the shirring it was time to add some details. I wanted some pockets.
And, I am such a sucker for rick-rack. The pockets got rick-rack trim across the top and the entire hem of the bottom of the dress got it as well. I realize after you saw the last dress I made that having a monogrammed pocket is anti-climactic, but gosh I love the look. Plus, I made this dress first.
Look at those curls. LOVE them! And my little baby's tan lines.

Then, I decided to just do a simple adjustable tie for the straps.
And there you have it, just like that, another dress was created for Karis.
