39 Weeks...Take 2

23 July 2013

Baby's the size of a watermelon!
He's probably able to flex his limbs now. His brain is still rapidly developing- he's getting smarter by the week!
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 39 Weeks
Size of Baby: Watermelon
Maternity Clothes: Yes
Gender: It's a BOY!! Jack Cameron Williamson
Movement: He's moving, but not quite as much. He keeps bumping his butt out at me.
Sleep: It seems I'm getting less and less.
What I MissSleeping on my back.
Cravings: Not much, my appetite has really decreased lately.
Symptoms: Increasing pressure, waves of nausea, intense back pain, and lots of Braxton-Hicks.
Best Moment This Week: We got to see Jack via ultrasound today, it was nice to see him and know things look good and he seems healthy!

Well, here we are...closing in on the final stretch (or so we hope!) While it would have been nice for Jack to come at some point in the past few days, we never really thought that was a reality. Our hope for months now is that he would come some time this week. We shall see, I suppose.

I had my 39-week check today...and the question on everyone's mind - has there been any progress yet?? I'm happy to report - yes. Not quite as much as I had hoped, but it's still something. I am 1.5cm dilated and 60% effaced, so we are moving in the right direction. When I went in to labor with Karis I was only 1.5cm dilated, so it's not unreasonable to think that labor could happen sometime in the near(ish) future with things as they are now. Of course, we are praying for continual progress and that Baby Boy makes his arrival soon.   Our dream date for him to arrive would be Thursday...hmm?? Will it happen? We would really like it to be before this weekend though.

The past week has brought on several new 'signs' that labor is coming (at least in the next couple weeks). I've had waves of nausea and lots of back pain. I've had plenty of contractions, but nothing that has developed in to anything regular or consistent. I have lost about 4lbs and my appetite is decreasing. I'm happy to feel like things are happening. Oh, I forgot to mention, according to the ultrasound today Jack is approximately 7lb. 15oz. I say approximately because it's my understanding that ultrasounds this late in the game can be off my +-1 lb. either way. It will be interesting to see. This puts him closer to Karis' weight, if it's accurate.

Although we really didn't expect anything to come of it, John and I sat outside and enjoyed the full moon last night. You know, just in case. :) We tried and tried to get a good picture and this is the best we could get. It was so beautiful. This doesn't show the moon very well, but the way it would light up the ocean for miles is beautiful. We love to sit outside on the balcony each night and enjoy the beauty of our current 'home.'

So, what do yall think? Am I going to end up writing a 40-week post next week?? Any predictions on when Baby Jack will arrive?? Any thoughts on his weight and/or length?!?

I'd love to hear your feedback. It is our sincere prayer that Jack arrives before I've mentioned before, our life is crazy right now, so this would be an incredible blessing.

  1. Exciting!! You are almost there. Although don't get too caught up on dilating. I walked around at 3cm for 3 weeks. It totally messed with my head. I'll be praying for you.
