Hooray! It's not a gremlin or a squid...we actually have a baby. A very active baby who likes to show off. Baby was moving all over kicking his(her) little frog legs and waving to us. We saw 2 arms, 2 legs, 5 little nubs on each for fingers and toes. It really was amazing. I think I was in shock during the whole ultrasound, I really didn't know what to say. I thought I was going to cry, but I didn't. I just couldn't take my eyes off the screen and kept thinking, 'wow...it's a baby!' And, it looks like a baby.
The doctor said that our time line is right on track with what we originally thought...that I was 11 weeks as of Monday. So, I'm now 11 1/2 weeks. She said baby was measuring 6 days ahead, but that it wasn't enough to change the due date. So, our official due date is August 23. Obviously you can't tell everything from this one ultrasound, but she said the way baby was moving all over...that we can see the arms and legs, fingers and toes, she thinks that things look like there should not be any neural tube defects. Also, we were able to see the heartbeat. All of these were really great things. She thinks it looks like all is well and baby appears to be very happy and healthy!!
We did get two pictures that I want to share with you, but our scanner is not currently set-up. So, I will try to get those tomorrow...it'll be something to look forward to. :) Until then, I will give you the 11 week update, since that should have happened on Monday.
Baby is the size of a lime. Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.
Symptoms: Tired, indigestion, occasional nausea. Things are slowly getting better.

ReplyDeleteWhat a precious lime!!! I love that you got to see fingers and toes. I remember seeing that with Audra. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen either! It's a true miracle and we are so happy for you!
